„Gerade in der geschriebenen Sprache [habe] die Produktivität im Vergleich mit dem Stand um 1800 stark zugenommen', beobachtete Wellmann (1975: 221) in seiner Untersuchung. Auch Motsch (2004) und Fleischer/Barz/Schröder (1995) stufen die Vorgangsbezeichnungen auf -(er)ei als stark produktiv ein. Die Ergebnisse dieser Arbeit zeigen jedoch ein anderes Bild... Anhand eines diachronisch angelegten Zeitungstext-Korpus, das in vier synchronische Perioden eingeteilt worden ist, wurde untersucht, ob sich seit 1800 Veränderungen in der Produktivität des Suffixes -(er)ei nachweisen lassen. Dabei wurden sowohl alle Wortbildungstypen des Suffixes als auch detailliert die Vorgangsbezeichnungen auf -(er)ei überprüft. Inhalt des Buches sind neben der Auswertung des Korpus auch: - eine ausführliche Darstellung des Suffix -(er)ei und seiner Wortbildungstypen, - eine kleine Einführung in die Korpustheorie sowie - die detaillierte Beschreibung der Produktivitätsbestimmung, für die Harald Baayens Messmethode abgewandelt wurde, um diachronisch nachweisen zu können.
