Il Documento di Origine Forestale - DOF è un documento obbligatorio per il controllo e il monitoraggio del trasporto di prodotti e sottoprodotti di origine forestale nativa. L’obiettivo generale di questo lavoro è analizzare i dati pubblici del sistema DOF generati tra il 2011 e il 2016 e identificare e quantificare i prodotti forestali nativi legalizzati venduti e trasportati nello Stato di Rio Grande do Norte. I dati utilizzati sono stati forniti dall’Istituto brasiliano per l’ambiente e le risorse naturali rinnovabili - IBAMA. Tra il 2011 e il 2016, Rio Grande do Norte ha ricevuto prodotti legnosi da 24 Stati del Paese, con particolare attenzione agli Stati della regione settentrionale. Il numero di DOF provenienti dal RN è cresciuto in media del 22% tra il 2011 e il 2014 ed è diminuito del 13% nel 2015 e nel 2016, con commercializzazione e trasporto interurbano osservati in più del 90% dei comuni. Per quanto riguarda le specie trasportate durante il periodo di valutazione, sono state trasportate 738 specie diverse di legno, tra cui spiccano Angelim-vermelho (Dinizia excelsa), Maçaranduba (Manilkara spp.) e Jatobá (Hymenaea spp.). I principali prodotti trasportati nello Stato.
