Lo studio ha utilizzato un disegno di studio di caso in cui sono stati applicati approcci sia quantitativi che qualitativi. Nello studio sono stati utilizzati sia dati primari che secondari e i dati sono stati raccolti utilizzando questionari autosomministrati. Gli strumenti utilizzati sono stati consegnati a due esperti che hanno commentato l’ambiguità, la difficoltà e la pertinenza delle domande per garantire la validità del contenuto e del volto del costrutto. I dati raccolti sul campo sono stati modificati, codificati e categorizzati in temi. La popolazione è stata selezionata utilizzando la formula di Sloven su 80 membri del personale che partecipano attivamente al processo di budgeting della Bugisu Cooperative Union Ltd.. La selezione è stata effettuata con una tecnica di campionamento proporzionale, stratificata e semplice, e determinata utilizzando i dati delle risposte ai 67 questionari.
