In questo lavoro presentiamo film ultrasottili (di spessore nanometrico) di lignine estratte dalla bagassa della canna da zucchero utilizzando la tecnica dell’evaporazione sotto vuoto (physical vapour deposition - PVD) con l’obiettivo di far progredire lo studio delle proprietà molecolari delle lignine. Le principali informazioni ottenute in questo progetto riguardano la possibilità di produrre film PVD di qualità in termini di integrità chimica della molecola una volta riscaldata, nonché di ottimizzare il controllo dello spessore, dell’omogeneità e della disposizione molecolare di queste lignine nei film PVD. La crescita del film è stata monitorata con la spettroscopia di assorbimento ultravioletto e visibile (UV-vis), mentre l’integrità chimica è stata controllata con la spettroscopia di assorbimento nell’infrarosso a trasformata di Fourier (FTIR). La lignina studiata è stata estratta dalla bagassa della canna da zucchero attraverso un processo di 'organosolve modificato' che utilizza diversi solventi organici.
