Princeps Pastor is a Latin Drama Musicum composed in honor of Clement Wenceslaus, Prince-Bishop of Freising and Regensburg. This work, created by Joseph Pemble with music by Franz Sebastian Haindl, commemorates Wenceslaus’s first offering of sacrifice to God in the temple of the Society of Jesus in Munich. Reflecting the grandeur of 18th-century religious celebrations, the drama combines theatrical elements with sacred music, providing insight into the cultural and religious life of the era. This historical document offers a unique glimpse into the ceremonies and artistic expressions associated with high-ranking clergy in the Holy Roman Empire. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
