Prexy: From the Journals of a Rookie College President, by writer Albert Anderson, provides an insider’s look into the world of higher education in a traditional, small college setting. Steen Jonnsen is fresh from the world of college teaching when he lands a position as president of Livermoor College. He and his wife, Martha, and their two children have to adjust to their new lifestyle, not only in terms of income but in terms of their social standing within the community and the academic environment. Of course, his wife Martha sees herself as Steen’s discerning critic and then there’s Professor Grundheim who seems to think it’s his life purpose to inform Steen what a president should do and how to do it. Meanwhile, Steen is just trying to assume his new role and new identity without losing his mind! This heartwarming, humorous tale reads like a journal from inside the mind of a young man beginning a challenging position of leadership over a 20-plus-year period. He is regularly tested, challenged, criticized, and changed as he matures in his professional and personal life. The characters are rich and complex, the dialogue sharp and intelligent, and the story universally appealing.Author Bio: Albert Anderson is retired from a career in higher education. He has written numerous professional articles and books on philosophy, education, and philanthropy. He lives with his wife on a lakeshore of northern Minnesota. Prexy: From the Journals of a Rookie College President is his first work of fiction.
