Les matériaux d’empreinte sont largement utilisés pour enregistrer la géométrie des tissus dentaires durs et mous pendant le traitement dentaire ou pour enregistrer les relations des dents avec les tissus environnants. L’empreinte est un élément crucial du processus de construction d’une prothèse bien adaptée ; il est impératif qu’elle reproduise la topographie exacte du site enregistré et qu’elle la traduise avec précision sur le moulage. Les matériaux les plus utilisés sont le polyéther et le polysiloxane de vinyle (addition silicone). Le polyéther, introduit dans les années 1960, est depuis longtemps apprécié des cliniciens pour la stabilité dimensionnelle de ses empreintes. Récemment, un matériau d’empreinte hybride de nouvelle génération, appelé vinyl siloxanether, a été mis au point à partir de matériaux d’empreinte à base de polyéther et de vinyl polysiloxane. L’objectif de cette étude était d’évaluer la précision dimensionnelle du nouveau matériau d’empreinte vinyl siloxanether par rapport aux matériaux d’empreinte polyéther et vinyl polysiloxane couramment utilisés.
