I capricci dei bambini sono una caratteristica del normale sviluppo infantile e compaiono intorno ai 15-18 mesi di età. Di solito sono scatenati dal desiderio di indipendenza e dall’incapacità di scelta dei bambini. Per evitare che i capricci diventino un grave problema comportamentale per i bambini, i genitori devono adottare pratiche educative adeguate per promuovere un comportamento desiderabile. Questo studio ha analizzato se i diversi tipi di pratiche educative dei genitori sono correlati all’esistenza o meno di capricci. 106 genitori di bambini di età compresa tra i 2 e i 6 anni hanno partecipato e risposto a tre questionari. Si è concluso che le pratiche genitoriali più comunemente utilizzate sono quelle appropriate, ma quando i bambini fanno i capricci, i genitori ricorrono a punizioni fisiche e a pratiche genitoriali inappropriate.
