In southern Pope County, Arkansas a number of communities developed between Carion-Crow Mountain and the Arkansas River. When the Osage and Cherokee were forcefully relocated to the Indian Territory, white settlers moved into this land. Galla Rock, Galla Creek, Pottsville and Hurricane flourished between 1824 and the advent of the railroad in 1872. This is a collection of articles on the history of these communities, and over 500 newspaper articles are reproduced from 18 different newspapers of Arkansas.
