From time to time on Poetria there are explosions resulting from pombs detonated by Poetrians. Poetria? Poetrians? Where is that? Who are they? Sorry, answering such questions requires research, and this back cover has word number limitations. You’d find these answers in my first three books-a trilogy: Deep Space Probe To Poetria, Payload From Poetria, and Musings Of The Mad Poet From Poetria, all available from AuthorHouse, or special order through retail book outlets. These are my poetry legacy, a way of leaving some of my works in a published form, to gather dust on a shelf until someone opens one of the volumes-this being the sixth on poetry-and reads it-particularly this one-and POOM! A pomb goes off! More about this inside. Duck for cover!

  • Polishing the Silver
    Jennifer Chrystie
‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

  • One Kiss
    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

  • The Truth about A
    Maureen O'Shaughnessy
In his interpretation of Antigone, Seamus Heaney says, ‘Nobody can be sure they are always right.’ Maureen O’Shaughnessy’s The Truth about A further attends to this idea through various readings of the myth as portrayed by Sophocles, Brecht, Ted Hughes, Anne Carson and, most particularly, Euripides. Set in contemporary Sydney, among a fictional underworld family, The Truth abou...

  • Neighbees
    J. J. Lauria / JJLAURIA
Ever wish you were a fly on the wall in the apartment of whoever? Well, the narrator of this book, Stinko Ole, that’s his name, is not a fly on the wall but rather a 'neighbee' on the stoop, most of the time. And this stooped person, is far from stupid, but tells us the dirt, or for those who abhor dirt, gives us the scoop on what makes the folks who cross that stoop tick. ...

  • All about the Presidents
    J. J. Lauria / JJLAURIA
It was Lord Byron who penned in 1823, 'Tis strange-but true, for truth is always strange; stranger than fiction.' Then, later on Mark Twain wrote, 'Why shouldn’t truth be stranger than fiction? Fiction, after all, has to make sense.' And what says the author of 'Foibles...'? That truth, though often stranger than fiction, is not always so. In 'Foibles...' any reader with reason...

'In ’Deep Space Probe To Poetria,’ we traversed the Galaxy to visit the home planet of the verbal invaders of our world, the Poetrians. Then, returning in ’Payload From Poetria,’ we brought back a cargo of poeple, i.e. Poetrians. But, this familiarity with the realm of Poetrians caused the writer’s dark side to overpower and break through his consciousness as ’Alter’ in ’Musi...

  • DEEP SPACE PROBE TO POETRIA
    J. J. Lauria / JJLAURIA
A thought-provoking quasi-philosophical sci/fi adventure exploring the worlds of words, expressions, and images; in prose and poetry. It’s stream-of consciousness style and nostalgia take you somewhere else, sometimes here and then, way out there. Though almost indefinable, it has therapeutic qualities in quantity. Quoting from it’s back cover what one commenter said of it: 'Th...
