The heart of a pastor is not only stirred by Sunday sermons and hospital visits-it is also formed in quiet moments of reflection on God’s work throughout history, in His people, and through His Church. This second volume of Ponderings from the Pastor’s Desk continues that journey of reflection.In these pages, I’ve organized my thoughts under three major headings:First, Pondering God’s People in History invites us to step into the shoes of those who came before us-figures like Moses, the Israelites, the Judges, the Church in Acts, Arminius, and early Baptists-so we might better appreciate how God’s hand has guided and shaped His people through trials, triumphs, and transitions. From the humility of Jesus washing feet to the challenge of cultivating godly wisdom and resisting the temptation of lust, these reflections aim to stir our hearts toward deeper obedience and Christlike service in a world that constantly pulls us inward.Finally, Pondering the Advancement of God’s Kingdom reminds us that we are not just saved to sit-we are saved to serve. These reflections explore how the Gospel moves through the local church and how servant-hearted leadership plays a vital role in that advancement. In a culture often obsessed with power and position, the Kingdom calls us to lead like Jesus-through humility, faithfulness, and a willingness to put others first.
