Im Zuge der Outcome-Orientierung von Politikunterricht in Deutschland gewinnt auch die empirische Erhebung des politischen Wissens an Bedeutung. Kenntnisse zur Europäischen Union (EU) sind dabei ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der für angehende EU-Bürgerinnen und -Bürger notwendigen Politikkompetenzen. Dennoch ist das politische Wissen, auch bezüglich der EU und gerade bei Schülerinnen und Schülern der Sekundarstufen, bislang überraschend wenig erforscht. Monika Oberle entwickelt hierzu mittels latenter Modellierungen geeignete Tools, die subjektive und objektive Politikkenntnisse erheben. Dabei zeigt sich, dass unterschiedliche Faktoren auf die beiden Wissenstypen einwirken und ihr Verhältnis sich unter anderem geschlechtsspezifisch systematisch unterscheidet, was Implikationen sowohl für die Forschung als auch für den Politikunterricht mit sich bringt.
