Este Volumen I de la Poesía de Rogelio Saunders contiene dos libros, ambos escritos en su totalidad en Cuba. Sólo el primero de ellos, Polyhimnia (1988-1990), fue publicado en 1996; de ahí que el otro cuaderno que conforma esta entrega, Discanto (1990-1996), haya permanecido inédito. Ahora, en dos tomos, tiene el lector la totalidad (siempre in progress: Saunders continúa escribiendo) de los poemas que integran uno de los más complejos y estimulantes proyectos de escritura poética en lengua española de las últimas décadas. Poemas de una barroca modernidad, especies de fragmentadas sinfonías lírico-conceptuales cuyas resonancias no dejarán indiferente ni al más sano de los lectores presentes y futuros.
