This book portrays the highs and lows, the ups and downs of a little Black girl growing up in a rural community, and the triumphs and hardships she had to endure.Readers may be reminded of running in the house before the street lights come on, staying in church all day, or being baptized in a lake, especially if you were raised in the same era.She invites you to join her on this journey as she searches for her family’s origin; as she searches for my roots. Most of all, she hopes the book inspires readers to celebrate family and the invaluable joy of being loved by grandparents. She also encourage you to have conversations with the elder members of your family. They have a wealth of knowledge about your family history.Pearline Wells-Johns is a retired Contracting Officer of the U.S. Postal Service, where she spent 32 years, fifteen of those years in purchasing and facilities. She holds lifetime Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M), and Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (A.P.P.) certifications. She enjoys writing poetry, crafting, and is an active member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church.
