He also served as a Brigade Major in a Brigade deployed in Punjab for Counter terrorist tasks in 1991-1992 and Colonel General Staff of a Division deployed in Counterinsurgency operations in Assam. He superannuated in March 2016 as the Commandant of the prestigious Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School.
