I’ve designed these Beginner Reader to be the next step after mastering the sight words, vocabulary and other English concepts in my learn-to-read series. Each Beginner Reader builds on the sight words and vocabulary learned in the learn-to-read books. With longer sentences made up of both new and already mastered words, familiar friends such a Do, Cat and Grace engage emergent readers as they expand into longer sentences, master and practice sight words and delve into sounding out words. At the end of each book, there is a sight words and vocabulary list to aid in the success of the new readers. Kindergarten and First Grade level readers will find the wholesome stories fun and engaging with the down-to-earth drawings that are meant to inspire and encourage readers and parents alike. A unique series created by a homeschooling mother combined her personal hands-on experience with he educational background (Bachelor of Social Word degree). A heartfelt opening message to parents and new readers as well as a handy guide with tip and and tricks for encouraging ease of learning is featured at the beginning of each book. An accompanying workbook (sold separately) is also soon to be available to help cement in the English concepts learned in these Beginner Readers. Burton also shares further educational resources online.  The idea behind the HALV ROUNDTABLE Learning: Beginner Readers series is simple and heartfelt-make learning to read an empowering and fun process for both kids and parents alike. I created this beginner reader series based on my experience as a homeschooling mother combined with my knowledge from my Bachelor of Social Work degree. While teaching my oldest two children to read, I found that the resources available were lacking. A lot of the early reading options I found out there were too challenging for my new kindergarten readers and oftentimes, the illustrations were so complex and busy that they just weren’t able to figure out what clues the drawings were supposed to be giving as to the words they were supposed to be reading. Out of this and my innate knowledge and understanding of the English language, the HALV ROUNDTABLE Learning: Beginner Reader series came to life. It is my hope that with this series, you and your child are able one day to look back on the time you spent together learning to read with fondness.I have included a Parent’s Guide which outlines my strategies and method for teaching kindergarteners/beginner readers to read. This includes a step-by-step process that is designed to be straightforward and hopefully, takes some of the mystery out of teaching your child how to read. I go over some tips to aid in early reading success as well as discuss some options for making reading a life-long skill.
