The 179th Anniversary Annual Meeting of the Philosophical Society of Texas was held February 17-19, 2017, in Waco, Texas. The meeting’s Proceedings include a summary of the weekend’s activities, list of Society members and board members at the time, transcripts or summaries of meeting sessions, and biographical information about speakers and about members who passed the previous year. The theme of the meeting was 'Law and Justice in Texas... and Beyond'. President Kenneth W. Starr organized the program. The speakers discussed the current state of justice in Texas, including the U.S. Constitution, federalism, the role of juries, corrections, and court practices.
