Philosophical Art of War: Anti-Terrorism with Chinese Military Ideology draws upon the wisdom of ancient Chinese culture to explore how classical strategic thought can inform responses to modern terrorism. Integrating insights from the Military and Daoist schools of the Hundred Schools of Thought, the book constructs a philosophical system of military strategy. It emphasizes a 'non-military counter-terrorism' approach-containing terrorist activities through indirect and non-forceful means such as isolation and economic blockade to 'starve' terrorism at its roots. Within this framework, counter-terrorism strategies are classified into three types: yin (subtle and flexible), yang (overt and forceful), and a balanced yin-yang synthesis. The author further underscores corruption as a fundamental cause of terrorism, arguing that eradicating corruption is essential to achieving lasting security.Through a wide range of historical case studies, the book illustrates both the feasibility and persuasiveness of applying Chinese military thought to counter-terrorism practices. It also demonstrates the transformative capacity of Chinese culture to promote social harmony. Beyond its cultural dimension, the work reflects intellectual exchange in the broader context of East-West knowledge flows, seeking to provide an innovative path for global counter-terrorism strategies shaped by Chinese wisdom.
