''Philaster Or Love Lies A Bleeding'' is a play written by Francis Beaumont in the early 17th century. The play tells the story of Philaster, the Prince of Spain, who is in love with Arethusa, a noblewoman. However, Arethusa is also loved by another nobleman, Pharamond, who is the King of France. The play explores the themes of love, jealousy, and betrayal as the characters navigate their complex relationships with one another. Along the way, there are several subplots involving other characters, including a servant who is in love with a princess and a plot to overthrow Philaster. The play ends with a dramatic confrontation between Philaster and Pharamond, as they fight for the love of Arethusa.
