Einige Gesteine aus dem oberen Proterozoikum (Serpentinite, Metagabbro-Diorit und Granodiorit) aus dem Gebiet Homrit Waggat in der Zentralöstlichen Wüste Ägyptens wurden untersucht. Es wurden geologische, petrographische und petrochemische Parameter durchgeführt, um die Diskussion über die Herkunft und die tektonische Entwicklung dieser betreffenden Gesteine zu beleuchten. Die petrographischen und geochemischen Daten bestätigen, dass die Serpentinite aus ultramafischen Muttergesteinen vom Typ Peridotit (Harzburgit) und Dunit in den Ophiolithen der Supra-Subduktionszone (SSZ) entstanden sind, die mit Tholeiiten des Meeresbodens in Verbindung stehen. Die Serpentinite ähneln den panafrikanischen Bac-Arc-Ophiolithen in Nordost- und Ostafrika. Metagabbro-Diorit und Granodiorit weisen eine kalkalkalische Affinität auf und treten in einer Inselbogenumgebung gehäuft auf.
