Peterchens Mondfahrt handelt von den Abenteuern des Maikäfers Herr Sumsemann, der zusammen mit den Menschenkindern Peter und Anneliese zum Mond fliegt, um von dort sein verlorengegangenes sechstes Beinchen zu holen. Am 7. Dezember 1912 wurde Peterchens Mondfahrt als Märchenspiel in sechs Bildern mit Musik von Josef Achtélik und 'in Scene gesetzt' von Paul Prina im Alten Theater Leipzig uraufgeführt. Lange galten die Noten als verschollen, bis der Enkel von Josef Achtélik diese auf einem alten Speicher wiederentdeckte und sie zum 100. Jubiläum der Geschichte 2012 dem MDR Kinderchor für eine Aufführung überreichte. Gerdt von Bassewit (1878 -1923) war ein deutscher Schriftsteller und Schauspieler. Sein bekanntestes Werk ist Peterchens Mondfahrt, das am 7. Dezember 1912 im Stadttheater Leipzig mit großem Erfolg uraufgeführt wurde. An einem Februartag des Jahres 1923 las er aus diesem Werk in der Villa Siemens am Wannsee, dann verließ er eilig die Veranstaltung und tötete sich selbst. Sein Schaffen umfasst mehrere Dramen, dennoch blieb er zu seinen Lebzeiten weitgehend unbekannt.
