A partir de los cambios del quehacer jurídico chileno actual, la incorporación y participación activa del psicólogo en este contexto, se observa como una necesidad de contar con una opinión profesional experta en el área del comportamiento de las personas, y que permita facilitar los procedimientos que se dan a lugar en diversos tribunales. De acuerdo a lo anterior, se plantea este estudio de casos, con la finalidad de establecer una descripción y análisis respecto del proceso que implica un peritaje psicológico en los casos de violencia de género, solicitados desde el Juzgado de Familia de Viña del Mar. Con este propósito se considera relevante este análisis tanto a nivel práctico, técnico y teórico de esta área de desempeño del psicólogo, contando con la opinión de profesionales con experiencia en peritajes judiciales, quienes dieron cuenta que el proceso de un peritaje psicológico en casos de violencia de género, implica una evaluación y exploración psicológica adaptando los conocimientos, técnicas, y herramientas de evaluación, es decir, la entrevista clínica, cuestionarios y tests psicológicos, y diversas metodologías de la psicología, utilizadas en el campo clínico.
