La recente crisi globale che ha portato improvvisamente al crollo del mercato azionario nigeriano ha rivelato alcune peculiarità delle aziende nigeriane. Alcune aziende nigeriane stanno performando ma i loro prezzi azionari non aumentano, mentre altre sono sull’orlo del collasso ma i loro prezzi azionari aumentano. Pertanto, questo studio esamina la relazione tra la performance delle imprese e i prezzi delle azioni in Nigeria. Lo studio ha riguardato il periodo dal 2005 al 2009. Questo periodo è quello del boom azionario e ha segnato anche il periodo del crollo del mercato azionario a seguito del crollo finanziario globale. Lo studio è di tipo panel. Sono state campionate 140 aziende su 216 quotate alla Borsa nigeriana (NSE). I dati sono stati raccolti da fonti secondarie. I dati sono stati suddivisi in quattro strati: il titolo più performante, il titolo meno performante, le imprese più performanti e quelle meno performanti. Ogni strato contiene 35 aziende con le caratteristiche di azioni più performanti, aziende più performanti, aziende meno performanti e aziende meno performanti. Lo studio ha rilevato l’esistenza di una relazione tra i parametri di performance delle aziende selezionate e il prezzo delle azioni.
