La maggior parte delle dighe sono soggette a una perdita di capacità dovuta a tre fenomeni principali: la perdita d’acqua, l’insabbiamento dei serbatoi e l’intensa evaporazione. Lo studio di questi fenomeni è di grande importanza, poiché possono mettere in pericolo la stabilità della diga e ridurre la sua capacità utile. Questo è in particolare il caso delle dighe di Gargar, Ouizert, Bouhanifia e Foum El Gherza. Queste dighe sono situate in zone aride dove le risorse idriche stanno diventando sempre più scarse. A questo effetto, abbiamo visto utile presentare in questo studio il bilancio delle perdite totali di acqua di queste dighe. Abbiamo stimato le perdite interannuali medie in volume per la diga di Gargar di 119,014 (hm3), Bouhanifia 45,45 (hm3), Ouizert 20,28 (hm3) e Foum El Gherza con 39 (hm3).
