I Fratelli Treves, editori in Milano, pubblicarono nel 1915 i messaggi ed i discorsi pubblici di Gabriele D’Annunzio, che il poeta fece nel maggio di quell’anno, ad incitamento e sostegno dell’entrata in guerra dell’Italia. Il testo usato per la sua riedizione è quello della quarta ristampa del 1920.Gabriele D’Annunzio il 5 maggio 1915 si era recato a Genova per inaugurare sullo scoglio di Quarto un monumento ai Mille. Il libro raccoglie quanto a Genova fu detto dal poeta, in particolare il discorso di violento incitamento alla guerra per la 'resurrezione' e 'integrazione' della patria. Nella seconda parte il libro raccoglie i discorsi romani quando, come ricordato, non esitò ad incitare i presenti al linciaggio del neutralista Giovanni Giolitti. Il libro ancora raccoglie la dichiarazione di guerra ed il messaggio del re Vittorio Emanuele III ai soldati.
