Reconstructions in head and neck surgery, especially of the higher regions such as the orbit, are a routine challenge for those who operate on large lesions in particular and non-ideal conditions. Knowing how to predict whether your chosen course of action will be adequate to guarantee the success of the procedure and the patient’s rehabilitation, before starting surgery, using only anthropometric measurements and the relationships between them, is part of successful planning. This possibility is demonstrated in this book, in which the author compares the elevation and rotation of the pectoralis major myocutaneous flap in cadavers and live specimens, and their anthropometric relationships, calculating the average length of the vascular pedicle and its reach.
