En la memoria del personaje principal están Josefina, María y Victoria; todas ellas esperan de él una respuesta significativa. Antes de que algo suceda, Josefina vuelve a sonreír y abre por primera vez la puerta de su casa. Su cara indica que está feliz y segura de que él la quiere. Sin embargo, un día todo cambia y ella se baja del automóvil azotando la puerta del vehículo llena de ira. ¿Fue Josefina, María o Victoria quien se comportó de esa manera? ¿O acaso fue alguna de ellas quien caminó por un corredor lleno de espejos que reflejaron su imagen para que esta se grabara en la mente del personaje principal? Luego, en algún momento, Victoria está sentada junto a la cama del hospital donde él se encuentra. Acaba de salir de un letargo y siente que no tiene muchas fuerzas. Extiende la mano y solo logra acariciarle la mejilla a Victoria. Sin poderlo evitar, los efectos de la anestesia lo llevan de regreso a un sueño profundo.  Al despertar no ve a Victoria, y sin proponérselo su mente piensa ahora en María, en Lorena y en su madre. Un instante después está llevando a María al aeropuerto y posteriormente ve, a través de un cristal, cómo ella desaparece de su vida. En ese momento se da cuenta de que tiene una enfermedad grave y que tal vez no exista un mañana para él. Ahí, desde la cama del hospital, desea que al morir sus recuerdos descansen en paz y que en el último instante Lorena y su madre se acerquen y pongan en sus manos inertes un pequeño ramo de flores.
