Die partielle Extraktionstherapie (PET) ist ein neues Konzept in der Zahnmedizin, das darauf abzielt, die natürliche Zahnstruktur und das umliegende Gewebe bei Zahnextraktionen zu erhalten. Anstatt einen gefährdeten Zahn vollständig zu entfernen, wird bei der PET nur der kranke oder nicht vitale Teil des Zahns selektiv entfernt, während das gesunde Wurzelfragment intakt bleibt. Dieser Ansatz zielt darauf ab, das parodontale Ligament und den umgebenden Knochen zu erhalten, die für den Halt von Zahnimplantaten oder prothetischen Versorgungen entscheidend sind. Durch die Erhaltung der natürlichen Zahnstruktur soll die PET ein besseres ästhetisches Ergebnis erzielen, die Stabilität der nachfolgenden Restaurationen erhöhen und potenziell postoperative Komplikationen wie Knochenverlust und Weichgewebsrückgang verringern. Laufende Forschungsarbeiten und klinische Studien untersuchen die langfristige Wirksamkeit und die Vorteile der PET im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen Extraktionsmethoden bei der Verbesserung der allgemeinen Zahn- und Parodontalgesundheit.
