When Soji, an ambitious young man, wins a scholarship to uni-fasi-ty in the big city, he doesn’t think twice about turning his back on the parents who raised him or the community that nurtured him, rejecting the customs and ways of his people for a Westernised existence and a life in politics.Offending his sponsors, rejecting the fiancée chosen for him at birth and moving with an increasingly dubious crowd, it takes tragedy and illness to bring Soji to his senses and finally accept his past, which enables him to embrace his future...Gbenga Odubiyi was born in Abeokuta, Nigeria, in 1976. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...

This thought was not only mine but also shared by my family, especially my father, Papa, who doted on me with such attention, as if I were an egg hanging on a lean branch of guava tree. My life's like a computer in a jet age. It was while contemplating such thoughts that I...
