Our Beautiful Unknownby Benjamin J. BirchEdvard’s shadow has never given him a reason to be afraid of the dark. Until it moves without him.An interstellar object is passing close by, and Edvard is watching from an observatory when something impossible happens. His shadow moves independently across the floor. Then it stands up.The man who emerges calls himself Anders. He is curious, intense, undeniably physical-and somehow connected to Edvard in ways neither of them understands. What begins as an impossible phenomenon to investigate becomes something far more intimate as Anders discovers the world, his own desires, and what it means to be a person rather than somebody else’s shadow. But the object that appeared alongside him is already moving away. And if Anders came with it, Edvard has no way of knowing what will happen when it is gone. Our Beautiful Unknown is a spicy M/M science-fiction romance inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Shadow-a story of desire, identity, personhood, and falling in love with someone who was never supposed to exist.
