Este estudo qualitativo de base sobre as relações treinador-jogador no futebol do liceu explora as percepções dos jogadores sobre essas relações, especificamente as percepções que os jogadores têm sobre a forma como essas relações influenciaram as suas vidas. Este estudo permitiu ao investigador examinar as caraterísticas dos treinadores de futebol do liceu no que se refere à liderança dos treinadores durante este importante período de desenvolvimento dos adolescentes do sexo masculino. A intenção deste estudo é descrever as experiências dos jogadores com os seus treinadores de futebol do liceu, especificamente no que diz respeito às suas percepções de como estas relações influenciaram os seus desempenhos académicos, sociais e cívicos. A amostra é constituída por doze finalistas do ensino secundário de dois sistemas escolares públicos de Massachusetts. O investigador realizou entrevistas com cada participante utilizando um protocolo desenvolvido pelo investigador. O objetivo deste estudo é traduzir estes temas em sugestões para melhorar as práticas dos treinadores de futebol do liceu, com especial incidência no desenvolvimento do carácter dos adolescentes.
