Os Lusíadas (The Lusiads) is a Portuguese epic poem by Luís Vaz de Camões, first published in 1572. It is regarded as Portugal’s national epic and one of the most important works of Portuguese literature. The poem celebrates the history of Portugal and the heroic voyages of discovery during the 15th and 16th centuries.
