Este artigo examinou a aquisição e a aplicação de tecnologias na realização de eleições na Nigéria. Além disso, analisou os desafios e problemas decorrentes desta inovação tecnológica e uma solução. O estudo utilizou fontes primárias e secundárias para obter dados dos inquiridos, que incluem os funcionários eleitorais, os eleitores e os líderes dos partidos, selecionados aleatoriamente. Os dados recolhidos foram analisados com recurso a estatísticas descritivas e inferenciais. Os resultados revelaram que a aquisição e a utilização de instrumentos tecnológicos podem aumentar a credibilidade dos resultados eleitorais e a aceitação popular. Por exemplo, 96,3% dos inquiridos dos Estados de Oyo, Ekiti e Osun do INEC eram de opinião que a tecnologia moderna contribui para a credibilidade dos resultados eleitorais. O documento concluiu que a tecnologia é um dispositivo importante, capaz de ajudar a comissão a alcançar a sua visão e missão. No entanto, estas tecnologias não estão isentas de numerosas dificuldades no processo de aquisição e implementação.
