Orlando Innamorato is an epic poem in the Italian language written by Matteo Maria Boiardo. Published incomplete in 1495, after the author’s death, it tells of the knight Orlando’s love for the beautiful Angelica and his many adventures while in pursuit of her. Set against a backdrop of chivalry, magic, and war, Boiardo’s work blends Arthurian romance with classical and contemporary elements, creating a vibrant and imaginative world. This epic poem is a cornerstone of Italian Renaissance literature, influencing later works such as Ariosto’s 'Orlando Furioso'.This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
