Apresenta-se aqui uma investigação a respeito da crítica kantiana ao racionalismo dogmático presente em meio aos escritos do período da década de 1760, que compreendem os textos denominados como pré-críticos, escritos anteriores à publicação da Crítica da razão pura em 1781. A obra se ocupa de três textos do filósofo Immanuel Kant: 'Único argumento possível de uma demonstração da existência de Deus', 'Ensaio para introduzir a noção de grandezas negativas em filosofia' e 'Sonhos de um visionário explicados por sonhos da metafísica', que configuram, cada qual a sua maneira, um embate com os metafísicos dogmáticos, juntamente com os problemas recorrentes na época, como: o problema do método metafísico, as inovações da ciência newtoniana e o empirismo inglês e francês, que conduziram Kant a refletir sobre os limites do conhecimento racional e suas provas suprassensíveis, e a possibilidade de fundamentar a metafísica como ciência dos limites da razão.
