Obecnie dostępnych jest wiele produktów, które w prosty sposób umożliwiają wyposażenie systemów wbudowanych w funkcję WLAN, a tym samym bezprzewodowe wysyłanie i odbieranie danych przez sieć LAN. Istnieje również zapotrzebowanie na większą elastyczność/mobilność, aby móc pobierać dane z dowolnego miejsca, a nie tylko z jednego stałego stanowiska. Ten rozwój stał się przyczyną powstania niniejszej pracy, w której zbadano, w jaki sposób można pobierać dane z systemów mikrokontrolerów za pośrednictwem sieci WLAN w sieci ad hoc. Do pobierania danych potrzebny jest program napisany w języku LabVIEW i działający w systemie operacyjnym Windows, aby można było korzystać z tradycyjnych komputerów (takich jak notebooki lub komputery stacjonarne). Istotą pracy jest opracowanie oprogramowania do wymiany danych w prototypowym systemie rozproszonym do rejestracji wartości pomiarowych. Poszczególne węzły składają się z mikrokontrolera ATMEL 8051 (AT89C51CC03) i modułu WLAN (CSW-B85).
