Ակսել Բակունց (Ալեքսանդր Թևոսյան , 1899 - 1937), գրող, բանասեր, թարգմանիչ, կինոդրամատուրգ: Ավարտել է Գորիսի ծխական դպրոցը (1910), Էջմիածնի Գևորգյան ճեմարանը (1917), Խարկովի գյուղատնտեսական ինստիտուտը (1923): Բակունցը, չնայած ունեցել է հազիվ մեկ տասնամյակի գրական կյանք, սակայն խոր հետք է թողել հայ խորհրդային արձակի զարգացման վրա: Կարմրաքար (1929) վեպում պատկերվող ժամանակաշրջանը 20-րդ դարի սկիզբն է՝ մինչև 1914 թ. օգոստոսը, երբ սկսվում է պատերազմը։ Սոցիալական կյանքի տարբեր բևեռներում կանգնում են խոջա Հիբանի ձեռներեց որդին՝ Մկրտումը, և բանակից նոր զորացրված Արզումանը։ Սրան ավելանում է Սալբիի շուրջ սրվող բախումը։ Տպագրված մասն ավարտվում է Մկրտումի և Արզումանի գժտությամբ։ Արզումանը մեկնում է ռազմաճակատ։ Դեպքերի զարգացումն այդուհետև մնում է առկախ։ Պահպանվել է նաև Զեյթայի ավերումը հատվածը՝ հուշելով, որ գործողությունները պետք է շարունակվեին Զանգեզուրում՝ ներառելով 1914-ից հետո ընկած դեպքերը՝ ազգամիջյան ընդհարումներով, դասակարգային պայքարի սրումով, նաև` կյանքի վերափոխման իրադարձություններով։Մեծ է եղել Բակունցի հետաքրքրությունը Աբովյանի գործի նկատմամբ և Ա. Խանջյանի խորհրդով ու հանձնարարությամբ ձեռնարկում է վեպ գրել նրա մասին: Հեղինակն իր երկն անվանել է պատմական վեպ, և այն մեր գրականության մեջ 1-ին փորձն է, որ ներկայացնում է կոնկրետ պատմական անձնավորության կյանքն ու գործը: Վեպն այսօր Բակունցի ակադեմիական հրատարակության մեջ պայմանականորեն անվանված է Խաչատուր Աբովյան, սակայն սա հեղինակի ընտրած վերնագիրը չէ: Վեպից մեզ հասած հատվածները երեքն են` վերնագրված արդեն հեղինակի կողմից` Լիբեր Արմենիեր, Դեպի լյառն Մասիս և Գործ Մարյանա դստեր Մկրտումի:
