I am beginning my biography with the place where I was born. I was born and I grew up in the largest river island of the world.Majuli is a river island created by mighty river Bhramaputra. It is situated in east of India, state Assam and district Jorhat. The person who brought the light of education in the darkness of my village was Father George Vargese, a Catholic missionary who worked hard to educate the people of my village and including me. I grew up in the midst of nature, which is reflected in my poems. My parents Sri Saplai Patir and Mrs Swarna Patir were illiterate, but they worked hard to educate me. I owe their love and grace.I had completed my school education from St. Paul’S School, Majuli. Higher secondary from J B College , Jorhat; and MBBS degree from Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh,Assam. The most important person of my life is my dearest wife Trebanee Dutta Patir, whose love and care encouraged me to move forward my life in ease. She is always with me in every situation of my life, helping me to stand whenever I fall in the path of life. Her love and care, I deserve always. I love her the most. She is the first reader of my poems.I wrote poems from my school days. I used to write nature poems. A girl named Ranjumoni Hazarika came to my life. She is more than a friend to me. Before meeting her, I do not write love poems. She has a taste in writing short stories. After talking to her, I began to write love poems. She inspires me in writing my poems. If she did not come to my life, I would not be able to write love poems. She is the shadow behind my poems.

    Jennifer Chrystie
‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

  • One Kiss
    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

  • The Truth about A
