On a cold day in March 2008, Brigid Boggan was enjoying a cozy chat with a friend in her flat in Bonds Hospital, Hill Street, Coventry, when a sharp knock on the door delivered frightening news-a bomb had been discovered in the area. As Brigid and her fellow residents quickly left the building for safer ground, the unfolding drama brought back memories to many. As some sang the wartime greats such as 'White Cliffs of Dover,' others related their remarkable stories of that unforgettable night of the blitz that devastated Coventry in November 1940 when Hitler’s bombs rained down, leaving the city in ruins. Still, the people of Coventry were not deterred and it was no different in March 2008. While Brigid shares her own personal stories, she also details stories from the other residents, providing an inspirational look back at past times as well as a realistic view of present day events. As Brigid reveals two worlds, different in values and morality, and compares the struggles of families who strove to make ends meet back then with the selfish attitude of modern families today, she provides an eye-opening glimpse into what is really important in life.
