An ordinary, slightly boring seaside holiday is transformed into an adventure where they have to adapt and survive in the bustling dangerous seaport of 200 years ago - making both friends and enemies as they go.. A strong bond forms between Robert and a local girl, Anna, who helps them to settle in. They help to protect her from a violent and abusive uncle. This relationship leads to conflict and heartache when returning to their own time becomes a possibility.
