The study is structured around three primary dimensions of analysis based on the original text:First, it investigates the historical realities of the Warring States period referenced in the classic, while comparing divergent perspectives on these events across different intellectual schools.Second, it rectifies misinterpretations and distorted readings of the text that emerged in later generations, while addressing overlooked aspects and contentious points in existing scholarship.Third, it analyzes the legacy, enduring value, and historical limitations of the classic’s statecraft and legal theories through the lens of modern political civilization.The book argues that the period from the Warring States of Qin to the unified Qin Empire represented an early form of classical Chinese rule of law. As a crystallized expression of that era, The Book of Lord Shang offers a systematic theory on achieving a legal society and selecting governance models, reflecting both the practice of rule of law and the principles of state administration.本书是对先秦法家经典《商君书》文本的考辨评析，和所蕴含的法家政治思想的阐发申说。全书先以《商君书》文本（下称原典）为基准，从三个方面展开考辨评析：一、对原典涉及的战国时期多种史实，以及各个学派对这些史实的不同观点进行考辨。二、对原典中被后世扭曲的观点与论说正本清原；对原典研究的盲点、争议点进行评析。三、以现当代政治文明理念解析原典中的古典治国理论及法治理论的遗产意义、继承价值和历史缺陷。全书认为，从战国秦国到大一统秦帝国，是中国古典法治社会，其结晶《商君书》从法治实践和治国之道角度，论说了国家实现法治社会和选择治理模式的体系性理论。
