It is hard not to judge animals for the things they do that irritate us but try to put yourself in their place sometimes. You see, when times get hard, man is not the only thing that is affected. Animals also have to adapt in order to survive. Sometime this means eating the farmer’s crops. Ol’ Forked horn had found himself a supply of food and he was determined to have his share of it. He was smart and unusually lucky. Throw in a few suspicious people and sit back and listen how everything Forked Horn did grew bigger and bigger. It was exciting for me to cross paths with the big blue buck when there were other hunters coming from miles around to try their hand at hunting him, only to leave disappointed without having even a glance at him. Man against beast or was it the other way around. In this case, it was man against Ol’ Forked Horn as the author of this book got caught up in trying to outsmart this mystic animal. I thought there wasn’t a critter around that I couldn’t outsmart. Then, I met this extra big white tale deer that the local people called Ol’ Forked Horn. So put another log on the fire, sit back in your comfortable chair as you read this book. Let it take you back in time to some hunt you were on and the sound of dogs barking as they ran a big buck toward you.
