W ramach niniejszego badania przeprowadzono symulacje przy użyciu modelu RAMS w wersji 6.0. Ich głównym celem było oszacowanie wpływu całkowitego wylesienia parku Rio Cocó na klimat miasta Fortaleza. Proces urbanizacji miasta Fortaleza przebiega w sposób niekontrolowany, czego konsekwencją jest zastąpienie naturalnej roślinności powierzchniami sztucznymi, podobnie jak ma to miejsce w przypadku rozwoju miast w krajach rozwijających się. Aby scharakteryzować klimat miasta, przeprowadzono eksperymenty numeryczne, biorąc pod uwagę dwa scenariusze: (1) zastąpienie rodzajów roślinności występujących w obszarze modelu dla miasta Fortaleza parametrami dostosowanymi na podstawie danych z obrazów satelitarnych oraz (2) całkowite wylesienie Parku Ekologicznego Rio Cocó poprzez zastąpienie go klasami pokrywy roślinnej modułu LEAF-3, co pozwoliło zidentyfikować możliwe zmiany w zmiennych składających się na klimat miejski. Model został zweryfikowany na podstawie danych obserwacyjnych niektórych platform gromadzenia danych (PCD) Fundacji Meteorologii i Zasobów Wodnych stanu Ceará (FUNCEME) w mieście Fortaleza.
