L’obesità, una malattia cronica con una serie di manifestazioni, è considerata una patologia eterogenea e multifattoriale. Gli studi epidemiologici hanno evidenziato un aumento significativo della sua prevalenza, che interessa soggetti di età e sesso diversi. Le complicanze, un tempo legate in modo obbligato e incondizionato, hanno visto negli ultimi anni una dissociazione dall’obesità con la comparsa del fenotipo MHO. Gli autori hanno stabilito diverse classificazioni basate su criteri (antropometrici, biologici ed ecografici) per separare il fenotipo MHO dai soggetti obesi metabolicamente malati. Lo scopo di questo studio è identificare e fenotipizzare soggetti metabolicamente liberi dalla sindrome metabolica.Parole chiave: obesità, MHO, sindrome metabolica.
