Doug Hood is an insightful writer who brings solid biblical exegetical understanding to everything he composes. Additionally, he possesses a brilliant way of translating his scholarship into nurturing pastoral care and/or spiritual challenge that is accessible to everyone. I first came to know Nathanael when I served for a decade as Senior Minister at Marble Collegiate Church in New York City. He was in the journalism industry at the time and began attending our church primarily, I think, because of his dad’s friendship with my predecessor, the late Dr. Arthur Caliandro. From time to time, Nathanael and I would meet for coffee and conversation. It didn’t take long for me to be impressed by his keen intellect and strong gifts for writing.
