Leopoldo O’Donnell y Joris, duque de Tetuán, conde de Lucena y vizconde de Aliaga fue uno de los protagonistas más destacados de la Historia de España durante el reinado de Isabel II.Liberal y monárquico convencido, desempeñó un papel decisivo tanto en la vida política como en la militar de la España del Siglo XIX.Fue un hábil político, fundador de la Unión Liberal, antecedente de los partidos de centro dialogante e integradores de diferentes ideas. En su vida pública fue Diputado, Senador vitalicio, Ministro de la Guerra, Ministro de Estado, Ministro de Ultramar y Ministro de Marina. Fue tres veces Presidente del Consejo de Ministros, dándose durante sus Gobiernos los periodos de mayor estabilidad, prosperidad y progreso de todo el siglo.Su valor sereno hizo de él uno de los generales más importantes de la época, planificando batallas que han quedado como ejemplo de la táctica de aquellos años.En este libro se narra la vida del duque de Tetuán a partir de las anotaciones que hizo el autor durante la investigación que llevó a cabo para preparar la exposición conmemorativa del 150 aniversario de la muerte del ilustre hombre de estado que fue D. Leopoldo O’Donnell y la del 200 aniversario del nacimiento de su contemporáneo, el general Prim.
