''Lisa Monaghan is 31 years old and lives in Reading, Berkshire. She is a single parent to her beautiful Autistic son Ryan.Lisa’s day to day life includes home schooling her son and campaigning for change in children’s education and to make schools more inclusive for all children. She runs online support groups for ASD parents, as well as her work on mental health and positivity and enjoys taking part in various fundraising events. She also enjoys open water swimming, country walks and getting close to nature.Writing has always been a passion of Lisa’s and writing poems is something she has enjoyed from a young age. She enjoyed studying English literature and getting lost in books.Lisa started writing non - fiction books but unfortunately had to put this to one side due to her health needs but she hopes to come back to them. She has found writing poems comes so naturally to her and has found it a good way to express how she is feeling.Lisa feels poems make the words dance and come to life and that poetry is like music, it can bring you comfort and peace in times of hardships. She writes poems for friends to make them laugh and has found it a great way to cheer someone up. She enjoys writing as it gives her an escape and a way to express herself and get lost in her writing.Lisa has a neurological condition which has affected her ability to write but she is a determined person who says never give up on your dreams. It’s always been a dream of hers to have a book published. She also wants to prove that no matter how broken you may feel, how unwell you are- even with neurological conditions you can create something magical and achieve your dreams.Lisa wanted to create a book of poetry on the subjects that are still as she calls it 'kind of taboo' and not spoken about openly enough. She hopes by publishing this book of poetry it will encourage people to open up, talk, educate and even bring comfort.Lisa feels if this book of poetry can help one person feel better or feel like they are not alone then it is worth it. She hopes it is a reminder to be #kind and hopefully bring everyone together once again.Lisa feels there is so much pain and suffering in the world and we do not need anymore and so lets talk, support and love one another. This book of poems is all about being yourself and loving yourself exactly how you are right now and for remembering all you have overcome, the hardships, battles and pain. But also encouraging positivity, courage and for remembering how unique, special and loved you are and celebrating being exactly perfectly you but also talking about those difficult subjects that are not spoken about openly enough and letting people know it is ok to speak up. Donations from every sale of this book will be given to the Samaritans and donation to improving mental health services for children which is a passion of hers and something she hold so close to her heart.''

‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...
