Профессионализация управления здравоохранением была отмечена как насущная необходимость для повышения квалификации рабочих процессов и эффективной работы системы здравоохранения в Бразилии. В штате Токантинс были сделаны значительные инвестиции в создание должности менеджера здравоохранения в государственном плане карьеры. С учетом этого данное исследование направлено на то, чтобы охарактеризовать профиль менеджера по здравоохранению в SESAU- TO, определить основные виды деятельности и проблемы, с которыми сталкиваются эти специалисты. В процессе сбора данных были проанализированы документы и опрошены 93% менеджеров, принятых на работу в Департамент здравоохранения. Результаты показывают, что 67 % менеджеров имеют опыт работы от 3 до 6 лет. Большинство менеджеров (27 %) работают в сфере санитарного надзора; 66 % этих специалистов посвящают себя исключительно деятельности секретариата, не имея никаких других трудовых отношений.
