При проектировании стульев для аудиторий (универсальных) во многих учебных заведениях, как правило, не учитываются антропометрические характеристики. Это может привести к заболеваниям опорно-двигательного аппарата и снизить эффективность обучения из-за длительного сидения в неудобной позе. Цель данного исследования заключалась в использовании концепции инновационной эргономики для разработки и анализа настольного кресла для студентов в округе Уасин-Гишу. Конкретные задачи состояли в следующем: сбор антропометрических данных студентов четырех выбранных высших учебных заведений; разработка дизайна рабочего кресла с использованием собранных антропометрических измерений и анализ дизайна рабочего кресла с помощью эргономического аналитического инструмента RULA. Объем выборки в 382 человека был определен согласно Homkhiew et al. (2012). Антропометрические данные были собраны у 382 студентов обоих полов из четырех выбранных учебных заведений округа Уасин-Гишу. Результаты показали, что предложенная конструкция настольного кресла дала лучший результат, поскольку итоговый балл снизился с 4 до 1, что означает снижение вероятности возникновения заболеваний опорно-двигательного аппарата. В заключение был предложен один тип эргономически подходящей конструкции рабочего кресла в классе.
