Fluorosis has become an endemic health problem all over the world. Prolonged exposures to sodium fluoride in organisms lead to learning, memory deficits due to decrease in nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and neurodegeneration. The primary reasons for these changes were due to oxidative stress and excitotoxicity induced damages in developing brain. It illustrates the neurotoxicity of sodium fluoride and ameliorative role of quercetin. Quercetin, the major flavonoid in the human diet. The main objective of this book is to evaluate the protective role of quercetin against sodium fluoride induced neurodegeneration with the appropriate interrelated oxidative stress markers, neurotransmitters, histological, physical and behavioural parameters corresponding to cerebral cortex and hippocampus of developing brain of rat. In this book, quercetin is highlighted as a potentially effective treatment for neurodegenerative diseases.
